主祭神：瓊々藝尊・武内宿禰命
配神：誉田別命・息長足姫命・玉依比女命

境内社：若宮神社（古志朝臣）・牛荒神社（素盞嗚尊）・八幡山稲荷神社（保食大神）
　　　　三神社（塩釜神社・金刀比羅宮・天満宮）・西上稲荷神社（倉稲魂命・大国主命）

元宮は、現社地の東方、宮の谷と呼ばれる山中（標高160m）にある。[[地理院地図:https://maps.gsi.go.jp/#15/35.361931/132.958860/]]
昭和39年水害による元宮境内崩壊のため、昭和41年現在地に移転。

社伝では、出雲忌部の内、機織りに携わった忌部氏の末裔が祖神と崇める瓊々藝尊を祀ったのが縁起という。
秋の例大祭では前夜に「歌神楽」が行われている。

---忌部氏が出雲に来たのは出雲が中央の支配下に入り、5世紀頃徴税役として派遣されたのが始まりであり、縁起には少々疑問がある。元は秦氏が古来この地で麻を育て機織りを行っていたのを忌部氏が支配下に入れたのではないかと思われる。
又、秦氏は宇佐八幡宮とも関係が深い。
「瓊々藝尊」は古事記では「日子番能邇邇藝命」、書記では異同はあるが「天津彦彦火瓊瓊杵尊」と記され祭神名が「瓊々藝尊」と記されているのも疑問が残る。忌部氏の祖神というのも疑問。古語拾遺をみてもそのような記述は無い。
出雲忌部に関して大原郡には色々影響を残しているようであり、また稿を改める。
